SO WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC AND HOW CAN IT HELP ME?

We know how important it is to be able to get back to your normal activities as soon as possible, whether it is getting back to work, or training if you are an athlete.

Chiropractic is an effective, dynamic, drug-free method of treatment to deal with musculoskeletal complaints which often lead to pain and misery.

Our aim is to reassure you, you are not on your own, we deal with back, neck, shoulder and other joint problems, every day and coupled with years of experience you can be sure you are in good hands. We pride ourselves in providing a thorough and professional examination to create an individually tailored treatment plan undertaken within a calm and relaxed setting.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT CONSIST OF?

Chiropractors often use gentle, specific adjustments (the chiropractic word for manipulation) done by hand, to free stiffened joints and remove spinal nerve irritation. The treatment may also include mobilization, ultrasound, stretching or strengthening of soft tissue and various other techniques to ensure that you are feeling well again as soon as possible.

In December 2016 the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) published its guidance to the NHS for treatment of low back pain and sciatica, which advocated manual therapy (spinal manipulation, mobilisation or soft tissue techniques such as massage) in treating low back pain and sciatica pain as part of a package including exercise.

WHAT ABOUT X-RAYS OR FURTHER IMAGING?

Occasionally, if we feel that further investigations are required, we can refer you for these if necessary. X-rays or other imaging are not routinely performed as these are not needed for every person or every condition. The need for further imaging will be determined on a case-by-case basis and the reason for the tests will be explained to you before you are referred.

TREATMENT IS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE PATIENT AND THE PRACTITIONER.

Rehabilitation is vital in making a successful recovery. We don’t believe in simply giving you a standard sheet of exercises to struggle with at home. We show you how you can improve your specific complaint through rehabilitation and strength work to give you the best possible chance of being pain free into the future.

Many people choose to have chiropractic treatment periodically to simply keep themselves moving and functioning well.
